GENERAL MANAGER, Ms Gladys Kanyongo

Executive Board Member of Small Enterprises Development Corporation and the current General Manager, Small Enterprises Development Corporation. She has a Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Banking from National University of Science and Technology and part Masters of Business Administration Degree from Zimbabwe Open University at dissertation stage. She also holds a diploma in banking from the Institute of Banking in Zimbabwe and over 10 years of banking experience. Prior to joining SEDCO in January 2012, she was the General Manager (Corporate Banking) with TN Bank.

ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER–Operations, Mr. Shephered Moyo

Was formerly a Branch Manager for Bulawayo responsible for Bulawayo Metropolitan, Matabeleland North and South provinces. Joined SEDCO in November 2010.

Has worked in the banking sector for 15years in various capacities including 6yrs in management positions. Highest attainment then was Senior Retail Manager at Barclays Bank. Apart from various qualifications in Banking, Accountancy, Auditing and Meat Science, he holds a Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree – Business Management from Midlands State University.

Currently doing his dissertation for the MBA degree with NUST. Apart from having lectured at the Bulawayo Polytechnic, he has been a facilitator in various courses such as Strategic Planning, Small Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Finance, and Balanced Scorecard. Mr. Moyo has experience in dealing with both Corporates and SMEs.

RISK MANAGER, HEAD OFFICE- Ishmael Lastone Mupinga Chikate

A holder of a Bachelor of Business Studies   (Honours) and Master of Commerce in Strategic Management and Corporate Governance degrees obtained in 1983 and 2007 respectively. Has diverse experience having worked in the public and private sector as a teacher; administrator; banker; and; manager.

Acting CHIEF INTERNAL AUDITOR, Mr. Jairos Makonese

Mr. Jairos Makonese is a holder of Bachelor of Commerce Accounting Degree with the Zimbabwe Open University. He has also attended courses in Forensic Auditing and CAATS. Holds a Diploma with SAAA (Southern African Association of Accountants). Has also studied Staff Administration with the Zimbabwe Republic Police Staff College an associate college of the University of Zimbabwe. Prior to joining the Corporation he was engaged to the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General where he gained vast experience in auditing big parastatals such as GMB, POTRAZ, ZINARA, CAAZ among others.


Mr. Chando has a Bachelor of Finance and Commerce (Zimbabwe Open University) and diplomas in Credit Management (AMICMZ), Projects Planning and Management and Business Management. He also holds a certificate of competence in Project Management (IPMZ) besides having vast experience in credit management in a development finance institution.


Mr Kunakah joined SEDCO on 07 April 2007 as a Business Analyst. Rose through the ranks to the position of Branch Manager in August 2010. A holder of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from the University of Zimbabwe (2003) and currently studying towards an MBA. Previously worked for the Wattle Company as an Assistant in the Finance Department. Over the five years at SEDCO, developed a keen interest in SME Capacity Building. Married and blessed with two children.

BRANCH MANAGER-GWERU, Mr. Caprice Mutandwa

Mr Caprice Mutandwa joined SEDCO on 01 March 1998 as a Portfolio Controller and rose through the ranks to Satellite Branch Manager on 01 January 2008.A business administrator with over 22 years of relevant experience in credit and risk management. Mr Mutandwa is a holder of a Higher Certificate in Corporate Management and a certificate in Corporate Management from the Institute of Administration and Commerce. The other qualifications include an Executive Certificate in Project Management from the University of Zimbabwe and a Certificate in Credit Management from the Institute of Credit Management Zimbabwe. Married to Memory with two boys and one girl.


James Chitupa joined SEDCO on 01 July 2011 as Human Resources and Administration Manager. He holds Bachelor of Commerce honours Degree in Management with National University of Science and Technology, Zimbabwe (2005). Prior to joining the Corporation, James worked for Steelnet Zimbabwe Limited from August 2007 to June 2011 as Human Resources Manager for two of its subsidiaries namely TPI and BMA Fasteners.James did his graduate learnership programme with Star Africa Corporation (Former ZSR) and on completion, he was engaged as a Human Resources Officer for three of its divisions namely Transport Division, Engineering Division and the Beverage and Special Products Division. James is married and has one child.

ACCOUNTANT –HEAD OFFICE, Mr. Hophine Mupamhadzi

 He attained a Barchelor of Commerce Honors Degree in Accounting with the Midlands State University in 2004. Currently he is studying to attain the status of a Certified Chartered Accountant with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). His seven years work experience covers Auditing and Financial Accounting.

IT  MANANGER- HEAD OFFICE, Mr. Ray Chakanetsa Marange

Mr.  Ray C Marange is the IT Manager at the Small Enterprise Development Corporation (SEDCO) a position he has held since December 17, 2013 . He  holds an an EMBA  with Africa University , DME University of Zimbabwe, HND Computer Science HEXCO and PRINCE2 Foundation Certification . He  has  worked  at Kingdom  Bank now AfrAsia Bank Zimbabwe as ICT Project Manager, System Development Manager, System Analyst  and Support systems Analyst  from December 2003  to May  2013. Ray  is  married  to Linda with 2 boys  and a girl.

Effective 7 February 2014, the Corporation’s name changed from Small Enterprises Development Corporation (SEDCO) to Small and Medium Enterprises Development Corporation (SMEDCO). This is after the publication of statutory instrument SI 34 of 2014 that operationalised the SME
CHAPTER 24:12.

The co-owners retired in 1993 from formal employment and used their combined pensions to build a business premise at Muchapondwa Business Centre. They opened to the public the following year and in 1995 operated under the lucky seven franchise.
